01/22/2003. Remarks by Chris Pinn: "The order for the first Vultee Vengeances was placed by the British Ministry of Aircraft Production in 1940 so the aircraft shown here, the second prototype, carried the British s/n AF746. Here it is being flown by Vultee's test pilot Frank Davis. After early testing in the silver finish shown, AF746 was later camouflaged dark green and dark earth.

My father had fond recollections of flying the Vengeance with 667 Squadron. He never forgot the day that 6 of these large, brutish aircraft were delivered in formation to RAF Gosport and after landing out stepped 6 young female delivery pilots!"
