Chris Pinn: "This aircraft was built as a standard Tiger engined Whitley Mk.I, but then modified to investigate operation at higher all up weights. The modifications included deleting the turrets and fairing them over. It was later converted to Merlin power as a development aircraft for the Mk.IV (as shown above). Also notable is the additional dihedral on the outboard wing panels which is not seen on the Whitley shown in photo
