Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Three prototypes ordered to Specification F.18/39, first prototype (R2492) flown at Wing, Buckinghamshire by Captain Valentine Baker (co-owner of the company) on August 31, 1942. The aircraft was lost in a deadstick landing accident on September 12, 1942, killing Captain Baker. The second aircraft (R2496) flew as M.B.5 on May 23, 1944, third was never built."

10/19/2003. Remarks by Charles Mac Kay: " The M.B.3 is powered by the Napier Sabre. The M.B.5 has an under scoop for the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, and a bubble canopy."
