This is the 15th production 332-61 Lightning Mk.I from a contract of 143 aircraft for the RAF. After testing the first 3 aircraft disappointing performance prompted the RAF to return them to the USA and cancel the remainder of the order. All produced aircraft were sent to Dallas, Texas for modification and subsequently used by the USAAF as P-332 for training and other duties, retaining the British s/n.
