05/25/2004. Remarks by Ken Pickford: "At the time the photo was taken, the DC-8, Vanguard and Viscount were the only types in TCA's fleet. Interestingly, the large open space to the north of the Trans-Canada Air Lines hangar in the photo became the site of the even larger CP Air Operations Center which opened about 1968 (ironically now an Air Canada facility). This TCA publicity photo was probably taken around 1961 or 1962. It wasn't before 1961 as the first Vanguards didn't arrive until then, and by 1964 their name/livery had been changed to Air Canada." |
