The first Flut-R-Bug was the SA-5A which was a single-seat design. It was Lycoming powered, and the SA-5B was Continental powered. Sales were lower than anticipated due to resistance to a single-seat design. The SA-5A was redesigned as the tandem two-seat SA-6B. A side-by-side two-seat design, the SA-5C was prototyped but not marketed. Pre-welded kits sold for $1,100, and plans cost $35 a set. Plans were sold from August 1956 through April 1968. The Flut-R-Bug is credited with starting amateur-built aviation in Australia.
