Remarks by Anton Laninga,
seen here at the controls:
"My work in Iran was for a Dutch helicopter operator contractor
to the Iranian oil company for helicopter support of oil exploration.
We used the helicopters for moving people and equipment along the
seismic line, which was a line done in the desert by surveyors. This
line was the base line for the explosions and consequently recordings
of the shock waves in the ground. These shockwave recordings were
used to establish where oil could be, and in the most likely spot a
drilling rig could be placed. Most of the time it worked out OK, but
sometimes a dry hole was the result. I worked in Iran for over 2
years and it was one of the best times in my flying career."
