03/05/2005. Remarks by Fred van Abkoude: "Flown by Silas Christofferson. He is known for having flown an aircraft off the roof of the Multnomah Hotel in Portland, Oregon in 1912. In 1914 he set an altitude record of nearly 20,000 ft (6,100 m). He was killed October 31, 1916 in an airplane crash."
