12/15/2005. Remarks by Jos
Heyman: "The Mississippi State University XAZ-1 Marvelette
was a research aircraft to study the aspects of boundary layer
control by means of a variable camber wing of a glass fibre
construction, which incorporated a perforated surface and suction
pumps. The single aircraft ordered by the US Army, s/n
62-12147, was built from a Greenwood AC-14 by Parsons Co. and flew
for the first time on November 16, 1962. By March 1964 it had made 16
flights following which the aircraft was scrapped."
