Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon

12/22/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was delivered to the US Navy on November 27, 1945 with BuNo. 37507 and was assigned as a pool aircraft at Naval Auxiliary Air Station (NAAS) Holtville, California, USA. In January 1946, it was placed in storage and transferred to Naval Air Facility (NAF) Litchfield Park, Arizona, the following month. The aircraft remained in storage until it was stricken on December 17, 1956 with a total of eight (8) hours on the airframe.

The aircraft was sold and registered N6643D in 1957 and reregistered N86492 in 1962. Converted to an agricultural sprayer, the registration was cancelled in July 1972. N86492 was restored in 1975 and it passed through a number of individuals until it was restored to flying condition. It is currently registered to Delaware Warbirds LLC of Wilmington, Delaware, USA.

There is some question about the markings on this aircraft. One source states that the aircraft is marked as a Harpoon of the Royal Navy but the British never operated the PV-2."
