02/15/2007. Remarks by Dave
Hilchie: "I used to own this aircraft, bought it in 1992 just
to get the floats (Edo 1320's) - which I installed on my
Cub - and never actually flew it myself. The
pictures were taken at Whitehorse Airport in the mid-nineties when the
aircraft was owned by Jack Dueck. He and his wife did a very nice job
of restoring it, as the aircraft was cosmetically pretty rough when I
sold it (five coats of old paint). Sadly, it was badly damaged in a
take-off accident at High River, Alberta, a few years ago and as far
as I know hasn't been repaired yet. It was built as a Luscombe 8C in
1940 and was imported into Canada in 1960 and subsequently converted
to 8E configuration - metal wing, C85, etc."
