04/30/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Originally the Rijksluchtvaartschool (RLS, State Aviation School) flew eight 91A Safir (Sapphire) aircraft, PH-UEA to PH-UEH were delivered from May 25 to October 20, 1950. These were replaced by initially eighteen 91Ds (PH-RLA to PH-RLH, PH-RLK to PH-RLP, PH-RLR to PH-RLU), delivered from October 16, 1959 to March 18, 1960, supplemented by five 91Ds (PH-RLV to PH-RLZ), delivered from February 26 to March 8, 1962. All were produced by Saab at Linköping, Sweden.
PH-RLA flew with the RLS till 1979, the registration was cancelled on December 12, and it was subsequently stored. On October 30, 1990, the aircraft was registered to R. Dijkstra from Uithoorn and J.J.A.M. Nijs from Rotterdam. The former and a number of others formed the Stichting Levende Oude Luchtvaart (Foundation Classic Aviation) and since January 17, 1997, PH-RLA is registered to the foundation and still wearing the livery of the RLS, it is seen on many occasions."
