A USMC OY-1 Sentinel observation plane flies low over Naha, capital of Okinawa. On this flight, the tiny ship drew small arms and anti-aircraft fire from the city which was in Japanese control at the time.
08/31/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Note the devastation in this full-scale version of the photo, only a few buildings remain upstanding, although none had windows left in. After the war the city had to be rebuilt completely."
