Vought V-166B F4U-4 Corsair

09/30/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Manufactured in 1945 under USN BuNo. 97143. In 1951 it flew combat missions in Korea, marked as A-416 with Naval Reserve Squadron VF884 aboard USS Boxer (CV21), and marked as H-308 with Naval Reserve Squadron VF653 aboard USS Valley Forge (CV45). It was withdrawn from service on July 5, 1956. From 1960 to 1970 it served with the Honduran AF as FAH-613. It was sold to the USA in 1970, registered as N96042.

In 1981 it was bought by Joseph "Joe" Tobul and his son James "Jim" Tobul, rebuild, and flown again on December 8, 1991, registered as N713JT. It was marked as JT-416, VF653, USS Valley Forge (left side) and JT-416, VF884, USS Boxer (right side). It crashed November 10, 2002, at Columbia, North Carolina, killing the pilot Joe Tobul."
