No. 1991. Nieuport 28
Photographed at Langley AFB, Hampton, Virginia, USA, August 2002, by Harold Arkerbout

Nieuport 28

01/31/2012. This replica was built specifically for the 94th Fighter Squadron by Ken Kellett of Orlando, Florida in 1983. The type was the first aircraft flown by the 94th ('Hat-in-the-Ring') Aero Squadron, which was formed at Kelly Field, Texas soon after America entered WW I on April 6, 1917.

Early in 2011 the replica was displayed next to the 94th Aircraft Maintenance Unit's building at Langley, wearing the 94th Aero Squadron colors. It was badly damaged during a storm on May 24, and presently is being restored by airmen of the 94th AMU.
