Antonov An-22 Antaeus

03/31/2009. This aircraft was produced in late 1969 and made its first flight on January 17, 1970. On January 10, 1974 it was registered as CCCP-09306 and although carrying the Aeroflot titles it was in use by the Soviet AF. After the Soviet Union had dissolved, it was reregistered RA-09306 in Russia in 1993 (although still in use by the military) and was withdrawn from use in 1999.

The An-22 is pictured at the Russian AFB Sperenberg, some 30 mls (48 km) south of Berlin, Germany, on one of the last departures from the base, as Sperenberg was closed shortly after the picture was taken.
