12/31/2009. At the Paris air show in June 1997 MAPO-MiG revealed an extensive midlife upgrade available for aircraft of earlier MiG-29 versions. The most extensive modification was the increase of internal fuel capacity by 2,116 lb (960 kg), or about 260 gal (1,182 l) and adding a conformal large spine.
Further elements in the upgrade were avionic: the cockpit instrument panel was replaced by a new one with two large multifunction color displays, together with two smaller displays plus standby miniature instruments in the center. A further upgrade was to add a ground-mapping mode to the radar.
