Schneider Grunau Baby IIb

01/31/2012. The Grunau Baby II B was one of several glider types used as primary trainers by the DLV, which in 1937 became the NSFK.

The Grunau type was produced by several manufacturers, the pictured one by the Flugzeugbau Petera GmbH at Hohenelbe, Germany (presently Vrchlabí in the Czech Republic) in 1944. The NSFK issued the Stammkenzeichen (code) "LZ-NC", when captured by the USAAF Technical Intelligence branch in 1945 it received the code "T2-2600" and was ferried to the USA. In 1949 it was transferred to the NASM, where it has been repainted in German markings.
