10/31/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Ordered as a P-51C-5-NT fighter, this aircraft was delivered to the USAAF as an F-6C photo reconnaissance aircraft, it served in the Far East with the 118th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron "Black Lightning".

Lieutenant Phil Dickey, the squadron's armaments officer and artist, designed and painted the black lightning markings, and the pictured aircraft was the first having these applied, they were soon modified with a yellow outlining to improve its visibility."
