03/19/2005. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The Vickers 141 was born as the private venture Vickers 123 fighter, first flown November 9, 1926 as G-EBNQ. In May 1927 the Rolls-Royce F.XI engine became available and fitted into G-EBNQ the aircraft was redesignated Vickers 141. In January 1928 the 141 became a contender in the single-seat fighter contest to meet Specification F.9/26. For this period 143 was wearing the RAF roundels and tail colors, but was still in the civil register.
Dropped out of the contest by the better Bristol 105 Bulldog and Hawker Hawfinch, the tail and landing gear were modified and an arrestor hook, chin radiator, brakes, interconnected elevators and hoist attachments were added. In this form the aircraft was submitted for deck trials to meet Specification 21/26. Sea trials aboard the HMS Furious in June 1929 proved unsatisfactory and the aircraft was flown in the King's Cup Air Race in July but did not finish. Finally G-EBNQ was scrapped in 1930."
