Cijan Kurier

05/22/2005. Remarks by Nico Braas: "The Kurier was a Fieseler Storch-like two-seat army cooperation and liaison plane of which 150 were operational within the Yugoslavian AF, the pictured one as s/n 50143. They were phased out in 1972 and most of them were distributed over the various flying clubs.

YU-CVH as pictured was used for glider towing and parachutists dropping at Lesce airfield near Bled in what is now the Republic of Slovenia. In August 1973 I made a few jumps from this rare plane as a visitor of the local sky-diving club. It could carry two parachutists, one in the rear seat and a second one (yes, me!) on a provisional strengthened floor using two handgrips welded on the airframe. With my legs dangling outside, it was a pleasure to see the valley of the Karawank mountains from above! The engine is a non-standard 160 hp Continental."
