09/30/2007. Designed by Prof. V.N. Matvieyev and his team (Kwashinin, Lipshyn and Rafeliane), this VTOL test-rig was simular to the Rolls-Royce Flying Bedstead of 1954. Powered by a Mikulin RD-3 axial-flow turbojet, the Turbolot made its first tethered hover early in 1957, piloted by Y.A. Garnayev. |
