02/28/2008. Karlis Irbitis designed the I-12 two-seat trainer for VEF (Valsts Elektrotechniska Fabrika, State Electro-Technical Factory) at Riga, Latvia, in 1936, the first prototype flew at Spilve Airport, Riga, on June 26, 1937. The pictured aircraft, finished in bright blue and white colours, was registered in April 1938, its fate is unknown. |
