Republic AP-63 F-105B Thunderchief

11/30/2011. The second of the four first production supersonic tactical fighter-bombers, designated F-105B-1-RE and s/n 54-0100 to 54-0103. It was first flown (site files) in 1957, but the following year crashed at Eglin AFB, Florida, USA on May 2, 1958, the pilot survived. Characteristic features were the two-dimensional sharp-edged forward-swept variable-geometry intakes and the area ruling or 'wasp-waisting' of the fuselage, as seen in this site files photo.
