05/31/2008. Two of these six-seat bomber aircraft were ordered by Yugoslavia on May 21, 1931. Manufactured at the Dornier works at Altenrhein, Switzerland, the first aircraft flew on October 10, 1931, both aircraft were delivered to Yugoslavia in October. In March 1937 another two examples were delivered.
c/n 232, Yugoslav markings: D-3, 170, 3221 Initially powered by three 625 hp Gnome-Rhône 9Kers nine-cylinder radials, others radial engines have been fitted as well. Also different types of Townend rings, circular and angular (as shown in the picture) were used. The aircraft were mostly used for transport, liaison and parachute duties, all were captured by the German forces in 1941. |
