Akron-Funk B

04/30/2012. Remarks by Andy Beach: "Produced in 1939, this was the fourth Funk aircraft. In 1948 it was blown over in a storm and dismantled. In the mid-1960s I discovered it in Ohio (although the engine was missing), and brought it to Sacramento, California, since it has hung in the rafters. I have the correct engine rebuilt and am slowly building a new cowling and in December I will probably have the fuselage down to start on the wood and covering. The pictured flat instrument panel was used on the first few aircraft, and later a 4 in (10 cm) by approximately 30º bend was made toward the engine for knee clearance."
