Remarks by Dave Simpson: "When Piper first introduced the Super Cub in 1949, they had a whole lot smaller engines than what are now in most Super Cubs. The first engines available were either a 90 hp Continental C90 or a 108 hp Lycoming O-235. It was not until much later, that larger engines were finally available as options. In 1952 the 135 hp Lycoming O-290-D2 engine was an option, and by 1955 the familiar 150 hp Lycoming O-320 was finally available." |
