08/31/2021. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The four-seat sport aircraft DR 253 Regént was derived from the DR 250 Capitaine and mainly differed in having a tricycle type landing gear, a more powerful 180 hp Lycoming O-360-A2A piston engine and a slightly larger fuselage and cabin. The prototype aircraft was first flown on 30 March 1967. The type became Centre Est's first tricycle type light plane to enter production.
DR 253 Régent: The initial production version of which the first example was flown on June 16, 1967. Some 38 were produced.
DR 253B Régent: This was the successor of the DR 253 model with detail improvements and refinements.
A total of 100 aircraft were produced: 1 prototype, 38 DR 253, 61 DR 253A.
Factory-fresh, the pictured aircraft was registered in the UK as G-AWKP on June 14, 1968. After seven owners in thirty years, the aircraft was withdrawn from use on October 13, 1998."
