Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft is assigned to the 18th Pursuit Group (Interceptor), 14th Pursuit Wing, Hawaiian Air Force and based at Wheeler Field, Oahu, Territory of Hawaii, USA. On December 7, 1941, the two pursuit groups at Wheeler Field, the 15th and 18th, had a total of 87 P-40Bs and 12 P-40Cs; 55 P-40Bs and nine P-40Cs were in commission. During the Japanese attack, 37 P-40Bs were destroyed and 25 were in commission after the attack; five P-40Cs were destroyed and two were in commission after the attack." |
