Remarks by Jack McKillop:
"In the early years of WW II, the RAAF had an
urgent need for radio and navigation trainers. To obtain suitable aircraft, they signed
a contract with de Havilland Aircraft of Australia Pty. Ltd., Bankstown Aerodrome, Sydney, New South Wales, to
build 87 D.H.84s with RAAF s/ns A34-12 to A34-98, c/ns 2001 to 2087. These
aircraft were delivered between October 1942 and June 1943 to supplement 11 impressed
civilian Dragons. Those that survived the war were disposed of in 1946-47. |
