09/30/2013. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This flight of four RNethAF aircraft based at Twenthe AFB consisted of two US-built F-86Ks and two license-built by Fiat, Italy.
Q-255 was built by North American under the USAF serial 54-1255. It was delivered to Rotterdam, the Netherlands by the USN escort aircraft carrier T-CVE 64 Tripoli on October 1, 1955. March 1, 1956 it was issued to 700 Squadron at Soesterberg AFB, coded "6A-3". The code was replaced by the RNethAF serial Q-255 in 1959, the same year 700 Squadron was moved to Twenthe AFB. On May 7, 1963 it was damaged beyond repair in a mid-air collision with Q-308 over Tubbergen, three weeks later, May 28, it was struck off charge.
Q-283 was also built by North American, under USAF serial 54-1283. It was delivered to Rotterdam by the USN T-CVE 58 Corregidor on November 19, 1955. September 19, 1956 it was issued to 700 squadron, and transferred to 702 Squadron at Twenthe AFB on December 14, 1956, coded "ZX-6". On July 24, 1963 it was withdrawn from use, being struck off charge October 31, 1964. Subsequently it became a gate guardian at Twenthe AFB, presently it is preserved on a pole at the Military Aviation Museum, Kamp Zeist at Soesterberg.
Q-900 was built by Fiat under the USAF serial 55-4900 (Fiat c/n 140). It was taken on charge on April 18, 1957, and coded "ZX-1" it was assigned to 702 Squadron on November 25, 1957. It was struck off charge on October 30, 1964.
Q-902 was also built by Fiat under the USAF serial 55-4902 (Fiat c/n 142). It was taken on charge on May 8, 1957, and coded "ZX-11" it was assigned to 702 Squadron on August 10, 1957. It was struck off charge on September 26, 1963."
