Photographed Zaventem Airport, Brussels, Belgium, April 1965, by Alfred Damen
08/12/2006. Remarks by Jack
McKillop: "This aircraft rolled off the assembly line on
November 2, 1962, made its first flight on January 9, 1963 and was
delivered to SABENA
of Brussels, Belgium, on January 19, 1963.
It was leased twice. The first was for less than a month to Air
Congo of Leopoldville, Belgian Congo (now Zaire), during March
1967; the second was for several months in 1967 to Nigeria Airways
of Lagos, Nigeria.
Sold to Israeli Aircraft Industries on February 25, 1977, it was
leased to El Al Airlines of Tel Aviv, Israel, the same date until
July 31, 1977, registered as 4X-BYM. In October 1977, it was sold to
the Israeli AF with s/n 137, call sign "4XJYM". The 707 was
converted for electronic and signal intelligence missions and
placed in service. It was withdrawn from use and stored at Tel Aviv
in December 1998, still stored April 2006.
The registration OO-SJG was original intended for 707-328 c/n 18375
but was not taken up; that aircraft went to Air France."
