05/31/2008. Derived from the F-4E, the F-4F-54-MC was manufactured solely for the German AF and 175 were delivered between September 1973 and April 1976. The pictured aircraft was accepted in 1974 and flew mainly with JG 74 'Mölders' at Neuburg, Zell. Later it was assigned to the Fluglehrzentrum (flight training center) at Hopsten AB and for some time in 2002 and 2003 used as a mail plane between Hoston and a German attachment at Decimomannu, Sardinia, Italy, with its tailplane marked as an airmail envelope. The aircraft was scrapped in 2004. |
