Airbus A310-304

09/30/2012. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "First flown at Toulouse, France on September 2, 1988 as an A310-304 with the test registration F-WWCI, this aircraft was delivered to the German airline Lufthansa as D-AIDB on December 10, 1988. After 21,620 flying hours and 5,867 landings, the aircraft was withdrawn from use on July 14, 1996.

Subsequently it was acquired by the Luftwaffe (s/n 10+25) and converted to an MRT (Multi Role Transport), able to carry a cargo of 79,366 lb (36,000 kg), or up to 214 passengers. In the MedEvac (Medical Evacuation) role it carries a medical staff of 25, consisting of specialists, nurses and paramedics. It is equipped with 38 berths, of which 16 are equipped for intensive care.

Later the application range of the MRT was expanded with aerial refueling, redesignated MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transporter). Equipped with additional belly fuel tanks holding 158,723 lb (72,000 kg) of extra fuel, the aircraft can refuel two aircraft at a time using the hose and drogue-system fitted in two underwing pods."
