04/30/2008. This aircraft was the first production Comet Series 2 that was first flown on August 27, 1953, registered as G-AMXA. Sold to the RAF on March 2, 1955, it was converted by Marshalls of Cambridge to a Comet R.Mk.2, the electronic intelligence gathering (ELINT) version. On April 23, 1958, it was delivered to the RAF and operated by 192 Squadron (renumbered to 51 Squadron) till August 1, 1974. |
