Luscombe 1 Phantom

10/31/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Donald A. Luscombe formed the Luscombe Airplane Company at Kansas City, Missouri in 1933 and the following year the company's first own design appeared. Designed by Ivan Driggs and Don Luscombe, the two-seat Model 1 Phantom looked similar to the Monocoupe D-145. Fittedwith an 145 hp Warner Super Scarab radial engine and registered NC272Y the prototype was first flown by Don Roscoe Joseph in May 1934. It was followed by 26 production aircraft, the pictured aircraft was first flown in 1935."
