10/31/2013. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The oldest airworthy Corsair, this aircraft was produced in 1942 under the BuNo 17799. Struck off charge on August 31, 1945, it was subsequently used by the Twentieth Century Fox Studios. In 1970 it was acquired by the Planes of Fame Air Museum and it came on static display in 1973. In 1976 it was restored to a basic F4U-1, while fitted with an engine from a Douglas A-26 Invader. Since it appeared in many airshows and appeared in several TV-series like the Baa Baa Blacksheep, Airwolf, Space, and other movies and videos."
