10/31/2007. This aircraft was delivered to the USAAF in July 1945 as a C-46F-1-CU, s/n 44-78663. It was struck of charge in 1950 and, registered as N53594, it was used by several operators (including Riddle Airlines, Zantop and Ortiner) as a freighter and eventually as a pesticide sprayer. In 1978 it was donated to the West Texas Wing of the Confederate Air Force and named "Humpty Dumpty". Named "China Doll" it is presently at Camarillo Airport with the Southern California Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (renamed from Confederate Air Force in 2002). |
