Lockheed 1049A EC-121T Warning Star

07/31/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Produced as the RC-121D Airborne Early Warning version of the Super Constellation, the aircraft was delivered to the USAF in August 1955, s/n 53-548. Redesignated EC-121D (E for Special Electronics Installation) in September 1962, it was upgraded with improved electronics systems in May 1970 and redesignated EC-121T. It was withdrawn from service and transferred to the MASDC in October 1978.

In September 1981 the EC-121T was transferred to the adjacent Pima Air and Space Museum were it was on display for thirteen years. It was sold to Wayne Jones of the Global Aeronautical Foundation in December 1994, subsequently it was restored to flying condition. On April 15, 1995, registered as N548GF, it was flown to Camarillo, California, from where it was flown to air shows until June 2000, when it was grounded due to corrosion in the outer wings.

N548GF was sold to the Yanks Air Museum at Baldwin Park, California in December 2005, while corrosion repairs have been made, the aircraft still is grounded at Camarillo as of this day."
