Contact Ron Dupas

Remarks by Ron Dupas, 1000aircraftphotos webmaster: Many years ago when I first launched this website I contacted K.O. to ask his advice. I believe his recommendations at that time are a large part of the reasons 1000aircraftphotos.com gained such a large following among aviation enthusiasts. He told me to keep it simple so that everyone, no matter what equipment and internet connection they might have, can have a good experience when visiting the site, and to make the navigation easy. He gave an additional piece of advice which ran contrary to the prevailing attitudes at the time: he told me that our function was to preserve aviation history and that we should not act as though we were in competition with other aviation sites; that airplane photos and information were for sharing. K.O. had an amazing vision about how the internet should be used, and the result was a website recognized and valued by aviation enthusiasts throughout the world, Aerofiles.com.

Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: Discovering the Aerofiles opened to me a tremendous large source of information that I have since used as cross-reference to my own files. When I joined 1000aircraftphotos.com in 2003, I learned that K.O.'s vision about sharing and preserving (US) aviation history had influenced the set-up of our site. K.O. has also generously supported us in identifying unknown aircraft. I have been one of many persons that had the privilege to assist K.O. in adding new, and enhancing presented information on the Aerofiles, while I was, as he once stated in his humoristic way of writing, his "Eagle-eye", spotting flaws in fonts, layout, etc, caused by "gremlins" and "unwilling electronic bits and bytes in the miracle of the internet".

We will continue to remain true to K.O.'s vision with our site, as a form of tribute to his legacy.
