11/30/2013. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This is one of two F-106Bs (s/n 57-2507 and 57-2516) supplied to NASA for use as systems development aircraft. Redesignated NF-106B they were registered as N607NA and N616NA respectively.
The pictured aircraft arrived at the Lewis Research Center at Lewis Field, Cleveland, Ohio in September of 1972. It was used for solar cell and ocean color scanning tests and for upper atmosphere particulate sampling it had a carried a special device under the left wing. In May 1981 the aircraft was transferred to Langley at Hampton, Virginia, in 1984 it was cut in half and used for full-scale wind tunnel testing."
