Johan Visschedijk: "The NiD 580 was a two-seat all-metal parasol-winged reconnaissance aircraft built for the French AF, and the first prototype made its first flight in early 1931. Also powered by a 650 hp Hispano-Suiza 12Nb twelve-cylinder liquid-cooled in-line engine, the second prototype had some modifications. Armament consisted of two 0.303 in (7.7 mm) machine guns. The aircraft were not accepted by the French AF and where registered in 1933 as F-AKFQ (c/n 01) and F-AKFR (c/n 02)."
