01/31/2008. Remarks by
Johan Visschedijk: "Marion "Jim" Baker (a flight test mechanic at Wright-Patterson AFB) started the design of the Delta Kitten in 1952. Construction started in 1957, the 85 hp Continental C85 four-cylinder horizontally-opposed air-cooled engine was taken from a Cessna 140, as was the propeller, a part of the engine cowling, and the main landing gear wheels. The first hops were made on July 25, 1960, while test flight began a few days later. In 1961 it was the winner of the
EAA Design Trophy."
