09/30/2012. This was the first Dash 8 forty-seat commuter prototype, fitted with two 1,800 shp Pratt & Whitney PW120 turboprops. Designated
DHC-8-100, it was first flown on June 20, 1983. Subsequently it was converted to the 56-seat DHC-8-300 prototype with an 11 ft 3 in (3.43 m) fuselage stretch, extra starboard service door, enlarged galley and lavatory facilities, wing tip extensions and 2,380 shp Pratt & Whitney PW123 turboprops. In this form it was first flown on May 15, 1987. It was withdrawn from use at Las Vegas in September 1989 and broken up at Van Nuys the following March.
