07/31/2011. This aircraft is being used to test bio fuel derived from algae. The project is led by EADS Innovation Works (research and technology division of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space company) and is supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Transportation and Technology (hence the blue Bavarian flag markings on the winglets and tail). The project is carried out in partnership with Diamond Aircraft and Austro Engines, both of Wiener Neustadt, Austria, and IGV GmbH, a bio technology company of Bergholz-Rehbrücke, near Potsdam, Germany.
