04/30/2006. Remarks by Tony Avis: "The picture shows G-ARUL/Ballerina in her current rebuilt and modified form. On August 29, 1966 G-ARUL stalled and crashed turning a pylon during an air race at Halfpenny Green, UK and was declared a write off. The aircraft was rebuilt by Paul Bannister during the 1970s but the damage was so bad that much of it was a reconstruction copying and modifying the original parts. The major change was that the control surfaces are now smooth without the chordwise flutes and it looks to me like the ailerons may have been enlarged so modellers beware - don't use these photos as reference for building any other Cosmic Wind or for Ballerina in her original form." |
