Ilmailuvoimien Lentokonetehdas A.22

10/31/2013. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Four years after Finland (Suomi) became an independent nation in 1917, the Ilmailuvoimien Lentokonetehdas (Air Force Aircraft Factory, often abbreviated to I.V.L. or IVL) was established within the military fortress at Suomenlinna (Finnish Castle) near Helsinki in April 1921. The first aircraft produced was designated A.22, a license-built version of the Hansa-Brandenburg W.33.

The pictured aircraft is the oldest Finnish-built aircraft, and it is preserved at the Finnish Aviation Museum."
