11/15/2022. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The pictured aircraft was one of fifty(!) version and sub-versions derived from the CP.30 Emeraude (Emerald). A total of over 630 aircraft were built in France and abroad, roughly divided between homebuilders and manufacturers.
Derived from the single-seat Piel CP.20 Pinocchio, the two-seat CP.30 Emeraude (c/n 01, F-WFVY) was built by the designer Claude Piel with the help of Yves Chasles and Robert Denize, the latter made the first flight on June 19, 1954. Powerplant was a 65hp Continental A65-8F engine. In 1955 it was selected by the Fédération Nationale Aéronautique (National Aeronautical Federation as the best debuting two-seater (against fifteen competitors).
In 1961, a CP.301 C, a later sub-version, was modified to the CP.310 Super Emeraude, which had a reinforced airframe to allow acrobatics. Registered F-BJVJ, it was fitted with an 100 hp Continental O-200-A engine. Redesignated CP.1310, 23 Super Emeraudes were produced as CP.1310 C3, fitted with the 100 hp O-200-A, and seventeen Super Emeraudes as CP.1315 C3, fitted with an 105 hp Potez 4E-20 engine."
