Curtiss Eagle

06/30/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "In an ambitious attempt to penetrate the commercial market Curtiss produced the Eagle. Designed by William Gilmore the ten-seat Eagle was the first three-engined aircraft in the USA, powered by three 150 hp Curtiss engines. Other versions were powered by two 200 hp Curtiss engines, while three aircraft (s/n 64242 to 64244) were sold to the USAAS, differing from the commercial models in having only a single 420 hp Liberty 12 twelve-cylinder liquid-cooled V-engine. The pictured example was evaluated as a four-litter ambulance."
