07/31/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The second aircraft designed and built in the USA by Sikorsky, this was the first commercial order for Sikorsky. It was ordered by the Fairchild Aerial Camera Corporation for aerial surveys. To raise military interest the aircraft was temporarily (before delivery) fitted with a machine gun in the rear cockpit, however, only one S-31 was produced."
